WHERE WILL THE COURSE BE HELD?

Woodbadge CXII will be held at Camp Wisdom/Billy Sowell Scout Camp/Shirley Sowell Cub World.  As one of the oldest camps in Texas, this camp is filled with lots of camping history.  Camp Wisdom is located on the northeast corner of I-20 and Spur 407 in the southwest portion of Dallas County. HOW DO I SIGN UP and WHAT IS THE COST?

Official registration is available through Campmaster. The course fee is $280. If registering on-line, a credit card payment may be used at the time of registration. If you register by mail, a deposit of at least $140 is due when you register. ARE THERE PREREQUISITES FOR ATTENDING?

Yes, you must have completed the basic training courses for your Scout position and also have completed the outdoor skills training programs appropriate for your position. For more detailed information, please see Training Prerequisites. 

WHERE WILL I BE SLEEPING?

Camp Wisdom is a Boy Scout camp. You will need to provide your own tent and sleeping gear. If you wish to arrive on Thursday evening, you will be responsible for your own equipment and breakfast on Friday morning. Please notify us ahead of time if you plan to arrive early. 

WHAT ABOUT MEALS?

The Quartermaster Crew has a great menu planned for the first weekend and a portion of the second weekend. As part of the outdoor experience, most of the meals for the second weekend will be cooked “Patrol Style” in your campsites. 

WHAT IF I NEED A SPECIAL DIET?

If you have a special diet requirement, let us know as soon as possible. Your Quartermaster Crew will make every effort to meet your needs, but may not be able to accommodate persons following strict diets for religious or medical reasons. Please let the Course Director know on your Personal Resource Questionnaire of your needs. 

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COURSE?

Yes. You will need a current BSA medical form parts BSA Medical ABC and a current physical. Please let the course director know of any medical conditions or accommodations you may need assistance with. 

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

As always the weather in Texas can change at the blink of an eye, so be prepared. 

WHAT GEAR DO I NEED TO BRING?

WHAT ARE THE UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS?

You will need to wear the full Field Uniform for your position in Scouting. The full uniform consists of a Scout shirt, Scout pants or shorts, Scout belt and Scout socks. You will also require an activity uniform consisting of the course T-shirt and Scout pants or shorts. The first course t-shirt is free and will be available on the first day of the course. 

IS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?

Yes. We want Wood Badge to be available to all Scouters. Often, participants are partially sponsored by their units or their chartered organizations. Scholarship assistance is available. The best way to manage the course fee is to register early and make regular payments until the fee is paid in full.
